2023 GREATEST ROCK TRAX
YEAR 69 IN ROCK
THE YEAR

The Israel-Hamas war was ignited with Hamas attacking Israel, killing and taking hostages, and Israel responding with attacks on Gaza devistating the entire enclave. Massive forest fires in Canada blanketed not only their own country but also also across the United States. This is all tied to the global warming that is a major problem of the entire world. The Ukraine war rages on. Artificial intelligence (AI) became a major topic that can be both a .... and a nightmare. Hollywood strikes, both writers and actors shut down normal TV watching. The moon landing race came back after a half century, with multiple countries in a race to get back there. (Photo: PTI) .

THE YEAR IN ROCK

DOLLY PARTON released not the best rock album, but the most controversal. The R&R Hall of Fame started off with legitmate inductions in its early years, but over time has lost its way, culminating with this. When Dolly was nominated in 2022, she declined as she correctly said that "I don't feel that I have earned that right.", as she never recorded a rock album. None of her songs ever appeared on any rock themed chart. They refused to take her off and she reluctanly accepted the induction. She then stated "if you're nominating me for the RRHOF I guess I better do a rock album". A little bit backwards, but after the fact, she certainly was up to the challenge, even writing the lead single, the very fine politically themed 'World on Fire'.

For the first time in half a century, The Beatles (Then and Now) and The Rolling Stones (Angry) put out new material at the same time, hitting the charts, competing against each other. The Stones 'Hackney Diamonds' album set a record of Top 10 albums over 7 decades. Members of Fleeetwood Mac indicated the band was done after the death of Christine McVie. Panic! at the Disco also disband.
