The lead single from the album Shout at the Devil. Chart: #30 (Mainstream Rock). Time - 4:29. Recorded at Cherokee Studios, Hollywood, California, USAm 1983. From their second album, this is really the song that got them off the ground. Sixx wrote the song after reading the 'Necronomicon' and thought that President Ronald Reagan was the anti-christ because all three of his names had 6 letters. Tom Zutaut, the bands Artist management contact with Elektra, claims Sixx was exploring Satanism, and the song and album was to be called 'Shout With The Devil'. An event described below changed it to 'Shout At The Devil'. The band ran into trouble with Christian and conxervative grups claiming they were trying to get their fans into worshiping Satin. An updated version was rcorded in 1997, Shout at the Devil '97". |

Nikki Sixx - 2015:Explore Entertainment"Was it intentional? You’ll never know. It has always been a song about pushing back. It can be about the perceived enemy at hand, the devil inside, or someone on a wobbly campaign trail." Nikki Sixx"It (devil theme) just looks cool. It's meaningless symbols and s--t. I'm just doing it to piss people off. It's not like I worship Satan or something." Nikki Sixx - 2001:The Dirt"I even truly believed that Ronald Wilson Reagan, since each of his names was six letters long. 666 was the Antichrist. It says in the Bible that the Antichrist will have the voice of a lion to be heard throuhout the nations. I told everybody that he would be shot through the heart and recover quicker than any man could, and he did. He was the devil I wanted everybody to shout at. I was getting carried away. Then, while driving home from the Satanic "I Will Survive" session, Tommy's car blew up. Vince kept wiping out in his car. And objects would levitate and fly around Lita's and my house. We were starting to freak ourselves out. And then I had my accident." |
