2022 GREATEST ROCK TRAX
YEAR 68 IN ROCK
THE YEAR

The one story that dominated the year was the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Expected by all to fall to the Russians in days, the Ukrainians fought and gained back territory. Under constant bombing, the country continues the fight with Western aid in weapons. It culminated with President Zelinsky addressing the United States Congress at year's end. The Chinese people, fed up with the country's zero covid policy, rose up in protest. So too did Iranians against the government's “morality police” after the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini while in their custody. The rest of the world turned a corner on the covid crisis. Inflation rocked the world's economy. There is constant turmoil in British politics. Climate Change went from being a crisis of the future, to an urgent crisis of the present.

THE YEAR IN ROCK

The best album of the year was Jack White's 'Fear of the Dawn'. This was actually White's first of two albums release in the year, a rare feat in this age. The biggest news story of the year was the return to touring for rock artists. After being away because of the pandemic for two or three years, they had to get used to the grind again. Many were re-starts of tours that were cancelled.
